History of Kent Delaware
Kent County in Delaware was founded in 1683 when the English first began to settle in the valley of the St Jones River. St Jones River was previously known as Wolf Creek. William Penn gave the order for a court town to be built. The courthouse was built in 1697 and the town of Dover was finally completed in 1717. Dover is the capital of Delaware.
In the 1960's, Dover was used for the manufacture of the space suits used by NASA astronauts in the Apollo moon flight. It was these suits which were worn by the astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Apollo 11 mission

Kent County borders eight other counties of which two are in the State of Delaware. These counties are New Castle County and Sussex County in Delaware, Salem County, Cumberland County and Cape May County in New Jersey and Caroline County, Queen Anne's County and Kent County in Maryland.
Things to do in Kent County
There are many things to do in Kent County and where better to start than at the beach. Kent County has some beautiful beaches and are relatively quiet. Beaches include Big Stone Beach, Pickering Beach and Bowers Beach. Kent County also has plenty of museums and nature parks such as Blackiston Wildlife Area.
